The Payer Authentication service helps merchants accept online credit card payments with confidence.
The Payer Authentication service offers retailers and customers a reduced risk of identity fraud. The service helps verify that the person placing an online order is really the owner of the card.
For all its potential, e-commerce still has its challenges. Many e-commerce chargebacks are the result of the customer claiming, “I didn’t do it.” And millions of other Internet users still refuse to shop online, fearing fraud and identity theft.
To help merchants accept online credit card payments with confidence, First Data supports the Verified by Visa® and MasterCard SecureCode® Payer Authentication services. Merchants can prove that they attempted to authenticate a customer for an online transaction, so the issuer cannot charge back the merchant if the cardholder later disputes the transaction.
How It Works
Payer Authentication service integrates the two services into a single interface. Customers are authenticated using unique passwords during checkout, regardless of which card the customer uses.
